Ice Rink Important Reminders

It’s fantastic to see so many of you enjoying the outdoor rink this season! We’re thrilled that this amenity is bringing everyone together, whether for casual skating or just enjoying the winter vibe. As we continue to make sure that the rink remains a fun and safe place for all, there are a few important updates and reminders we’d like to share with everyone. Please ensure this information is shared with all individuals within your household, as well as any guests they may bring.

1) Broken Glass

We wanted to inform you of an incident that occurred recently at the outdoor rink. Unfortunately, the ice glass at the leisure centre facility has broken, resulting in shattered glass on the ice surface. As a result, a portion of the rink has been temporarily closed off for cleaning and repair.

What You Need to Know:

  • Cleaning in Progress: Our staff is working quickly to clean up the shattered glass to ensure the rink remains safe for everyone. We ask for your patience during this time as the affected area is being cleared.

  • Portion of Rink Closed: Due to the broken glass, part of the rink will be temporarily unavailable. We’re doing our best to reopen the entire facility as soon as possible.

  • Safety First: We urge all residents to be cautious and respectful of any barriers or signs indicating closed areas. Your safety is our top priority, and we want to ensure that the rink is free of any hazards once it is fully reopened. We sincerely appreciate your understanding as we resolve this issue, and we thank everyone for their cooperation.

2. Slap Shots Are Prohibited

We want to ensure that everyone can enjoy the rink without risk of injury or damage. For that reason, slap shots are strictly prohibited on the rink. Residents who are found breaking this rule will be asked to leave immediately. If any damage occurs due to rule violations, the resident responsible (even if it was their guest) will be billed for replacement, labor costs, and repairs. Please note that repeated offenses will lead to the revocation of key fobs for the remainder of the season, with the board reviewing any further disciplinary actions.

Slap shots are prohibited at the Upper Windermere Leisure Centre.

3. Rink Hours and Closing Time

The rink is open until 9:00 PM each night, and we ask that all skaters begin to exit by 8:50-8:55 PM. This gives everyone ample time to get back to the leisure centre, change, and prepare to leave before the facility closes. Once it reaches 9:00 PM, key fobs no longer grant access to any part of the facility. ,We cannot be held responsible for any issues such as being locked out of the facility.

4. Team Practices and Scrimmages

While we encourage all residents to enjoy the rink, team practices and scrimmages are not permitted. The facility is designed for all residents to enjoy, and when teams use the space for organized practices, it can take away from that experience. Any team found running practices or scrimmages will be asked to leave, and the residents present may face disciplinary actions.

Hockey scrimmages and practices are not allowed at the Leisure Centre.

A Final Note: Let’s Keep it Fun for Everyone

We want everyone to have a positive experience at the rink this season, so please be respectful and kind to one another when using the facility. Let’s work together to ensure the rink remains a safe and enjoyable space for all residents.

Thank you for your cooperation, and we wish everyone a very happy holiday season!
